Anya Taylor-Joy has officially joined the cast of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’.The actress, who has worked on several big-ticket movie franchises from ‘Dune’ to ‘Mad Max’, will now head to Middle-earth for the next live-action instalment in the beloved fantasy franchise. Directed by Andy Serkis, who is also set to reprise his iconic role as Gollum, the film will see Anya play the role of Seren, a Sindar Elf from the Woodland Realm and a trusted operative of King Thranduil, reports The Hollywood Reporter. She is described as a skilled warrior, and is expected to play a key role in the story.Set between the events of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogies, ‘The Hunt for Gollum’ marks the first new live-action feature film since 2014. As per reports, the film follows Aragorn and Gandalf as they embark on a mission to track down Gollum in an effort to uncover crucial information about Bilbo Baggins’ ring – the One Ring that would later threaten all of Middle-earth.Taylor-Joy now joins the cast that includes returning franchise stars, including Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins and Lee Pace as Thranduil. New additions to the ensemble include Kate Winslet as Marigol, Jamie Dornan as Strider and Leo Woodall as Halvard.The film is among the ever-expanding ‘Lord of the Rings’ universe. A second film is reportedly in development under the working title ‘The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past’, being written by Stephen Colbert alongside Philippa Boyens and Peter McGee. Meanwhile, the hit series ‘The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings of Power’ is also slated for its OTT release on November 11, 2026.‘The Hunt for Gollum’ is currently slated for a theatrical release on December 17, 2027. The film will clash with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ which is also slated for its release on the same day.On the work front, Anya Taylor-Joy will be seen in Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated ‘Dune: Part Three’, slated for its release on December 18.
