Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Wednesday disposed of a petition filed by actor and film critic Kamal R Khan after the state informed the court that they have initiated steps to withdraw the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against him in connection with a criminal case registered by the Oshiwara Police Station. The Oshiwara police had arrested Khan for allegedly firing from his licensed weapon towards a residential complex in Andheri last year. He was later granted bail; however, a LOC was issued restricting him from flying abroad.KRK had approached the High Court by filing a criminal writ petition seeking the quashing of the LOC. Appearing for KRK, advocate Sana Raees Khan argued before the high court that the bail order passed by the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Andheri, did not impose any restriction on the petitioner’s foreign travel. She submitted that KRK had earlier travelled to France and Dubai after obtaining the necessary permissions from the court and had returned to India on each occasion, demonstrating that he was not a flight risk.Khan further contended that the authorities had failed to provide any valid reasons for issuing the LOC, making its continuation arbitrary and an abuse of the legal process. The High Court directed the Public Prosecutor to obtain instructions from the State. On instructions, the prosecution informed the court that the State had initiated the process of withdrawing the LOC. Recording the statement, the High Court disposed of the petition. The FIR invokes Sections 110 and 125 of the BNS, along with Sections 3, 25 and 25(3) of the Arms Act, 1959. The petition also referred to the bail order dated January 30, 2026, passed by the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Railway Court, Andheri, contending that KRK had complied with all the bail conditions and that the continuation of the LOC was illegal and unwarranted.
