HYDERABAD: A video showing a stray dog roaming inside a passenger lounge at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has gone viral on social media, triggering outrage and raising concerns over passenger safety and airport hygiene standards.The footage has sparked debate among travellers, with many questioning security protocols and cleanliness measures inside the airport.In response to the incident, the airport authorities said they are working in close coordination with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the designated authority for stray dog control in the area.According to RGIA, GHMC teams have been conducting regular drives within the airport premises, and 21 stray dogs have been addressed since January 2026.

The airport further stated that strict waste management protocols have been reinforced across all service providers, including mandatory disposal of waste in covered bins.It also added that on-ground staff have been sensitised to maintain heightened vigilance and take preventive measures to ensure such incidents do not recur.
