A 25-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after an argument with her husband over a video call.

GORAKHPUR: A 25-year-old woman allegedly ended her life after an argument with her husband over a video call in the Pandey Tola area under Jhagaha police station limits late Friday.Her body was found hanging at her brother’s house, where she had been staying for the past few days. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of mentally harassing her and abetting the suicide.According to police, the victim was married to a man from Chhapia village in 2017. The couple later divorced following a domestic dispute. The couple had a 6-year-old daughter.Around two months ago, she married a man from Futhwa in Chauri Chaura. Her family alleged that soon after the marriage, she was subjected to harassment by her husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law, forcing her to return to her parental home in Jhagaha.The family members alleged that she had a heated exchange with her husband over a phone call. Around 1.30 am, her daughter found her body hanging and alerted relatives.On being alerted, police reached the spot and sent the body for a postmortem. Jhagaha SHO Anoop Singh said police are investigating allegations of harassment and abetment to suicide.
