Honda City facelift launch tomorrow: All about Virtus, Vernal rival!

Honda Cars India is all set to launch the new Honda City facelift in the Indian market tomorrow i.e, May 22, 2026. The sedan will continue rival the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia and Hyundai Verna in the Indian market. The pre-bookings are expected the begin tomorrow, interested customers can book the car online or by visiting their nearest dealership. The new City is expected to feature major cosmetic changes, new interior layout, added features, improved dynamics and safety. Ahead of its launch tomorrow, let’s take a look at all we know.Mechanically, it’s expected to remain the same and will continue to get two engine options – a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, NA petrol engine that puts out 121bhp and 145Nm of torque and comes paired either with a 6-speed MT or a CVT gearbox. There’s also a segment-first hybrid powertrain offer: a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle hybrid engine with 124 hp and 253 Nm of torque. The new Honda City facelift will adopt a sharper design language, with a flatter, more upright front end compared to the current model. The updated styling appears to draw inspiration from Honda’s newer global products, featuring cleaner surfaces and a more modern look. The sedan is expected to retain its slim, upper-mounted DRLs, though the headlamp units appear to have been revised. The grille design also looks different, replacing the existing mesh pattern with horizontal elements. All these changes are expected to make the car look wider and sharper than before. Most of the side profile appears unchanged, including the sloping roofline, door design and ORVMs. The updated model, however, will feature a new alloy wheel design and will likely measure 16 inches. At the rear, the overall layout remains similar to the current car, although the tail-lamps appear to receive a redesign and the bumper has also been updated, with vertically positioned reflectors replacing the current horizontal units. Apart from these changes, the facelift is expected to retain most of the existing body structure and features. The facelifted Honda City is expected to receive interior updates focused on features and comfort. Likely additions include a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats and an updated infotainment system with improved connectivity. The cabin may also get revised upholstery with new materials or colour options. Overall, the changes are expected to enhance convenience and equipment levels without major alterations to the interior layout.
