LONDON: An Indian national has appeared in court in London charged with murdering another Indian by stabbing him to death outside a shop in Southall, west London.Navjot Singh (20), an Indian national, appeared at Westminster magistrates’ court on Thursday and was charged with the murder of Gurbhej Singh, also an Indian citizen, unlawfully wounding Jaswinder Singh with intent to do him grievous bodily harm, and possession of a knife in a public place without good reason. He was remanded in custody and will next appear at the Old Bailey on June 22. No pleas were entered.Navjot was arrested on Tuesday in the Southall area on suspicion of murder and held in police custody.Police were called at 12.41 am on June 10 following reports of a stabbing on North Road in Southall. Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and found two men with injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, Gurbhej Singh (26) was pronounced dead at the scene, having sustained a knife wound. Gurbhej had moved to the UK four years ago. A second man, in his 30s, also sustained injuries and was taken to hospital, but has since been discharged. Seven men, aged from their early 20s to late 30s, were previously arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Six have since been released with no further action, while the seventh remains on police bail as enquiries continue.
