Bengaluru: Around 11.2 lakh candidates qualified in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), the results of which were announced Thursday night.From Karnataka, Vaishnavi Das of Sri Chaitanya Techno School, JP Nagar, secured all-India rank (AIR) 20 with 695 marks. A resident of Gottigere, Vaishnavi said she had dreamt of becoming a doctor since the age of nine. “My aunt is a doctor, and her life in Odisha, where we hail from, inspired me. I’m service-oriented and want a career where I can serve society,” she said.Referring to the uncertainty surrounding the two NEET exams, Vaishnavi said the experience was mentally taxing. “However, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I scored lower in the second exam, but that was in line with the overall trend,” she said.She credited her school for preparing students for a tougher standard of questions. “By class 12, we were trained for papers much tougher than NEET, so I felt well prepared,” she said. Vaishnavi hopes to study at AIIMS Delhi and is also considering a career in research after completing her MBBS. Her father is a lawyer and her mother works for a pharmaceutical company.Another Karnataka candidate, Suchitha MF from Davanagere, secured AIR 48. A student of Sri Chaitanya PU College, Davanagere, she had scored a perfect 720 out of 720 in the first NEET. “When the re-NEET was announced, I was shocked. But everything turned out fine, so I’m happy. Being a doctor is a noble profession, and I have wanted to become one since childhood,” she said.Other top performers from Karnataka include Ravikiran Kini (AIR 62), Diganth BS (AIR 64), Johann Job (AIR 69), and Shreyankh J (94).
