Marvel stars Robert Downey Jr. and Tobey Maguire were spotted together in Los Angeles, at a time when ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is reportedly undergoing reshoots. Photos doing the rounds online saw the two stars walking together in casual attire, reigniting speculation about Maguire’s possible involvement in the highly anticipated superhero film.While Tobey is not among the long list of superheroes announced to make his return to the big screen in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, rumours have been rife about the star possibly reprising his role as Peter Parker after his turn in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’. His spotting with Downey, who is set to take on the role of the MCU’s newest villain – Doctor Victor Von Doom, has only sparked buzz that those rumours about a potential showdown between Spider-Man and Doom may be true. ‘Doomsday’ is touted to bring together heroes from across multiple Marvel universes, making the appearance of Maguire’s Spider-Man alongside other legacy characters a strong possibility.Should the two share screen space, it would mark a big screen reunion for the two, who shared screen space in the 2000 film ‘Wonder Boys’.Adding to the anticipation, Downey recently opened up about his experience stepping into Doom’s shoes and hearing the villain’s musical theme for the first time. “We’re on day 4 of production… Joe Russo‘s like, ‘Come here.’ And he plays me Doom’s theme … I was like, ‘Oh, yeah.. Okay, it’s that.’ And it even affected that day of shooting and every day since,” Downey revealed.Directors Joe and Anthony Russo return to helm one of the studio’s most ambitious crossover projects to date. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is scheduled to arrive in cinemas in December 2026.
