More about the film and sound track

The film’s sound track was made by composing icons and singers, Este Haim, Amanda Yamate, as well as music supervisor Season Kent, who wanted to make the movie as sweeping and romantic as they possibly could with the help of music. While in conversation with Netflix, the three of them weighed in on creating the list of music to go in the film, and how the process felt for them. Yamate weighed in and shared that they were a good team, and brought equal balance to the film’s sound with their own inputs. She added, “We listened back to some of those classic rom-coms to see how they balanced themes — it was very fun to do a modern take on that. Leah was so open to us being inspired by a lot of the needle drops. I studied orchestral music. Este is a rock legend and would come in and play bass and synths. We were a good team to tackle all of that.”Kent, while talking about drawing inspirations from other romantic comedies stated, “We had several rom-com film scores in our heads while we were assembling the film and finding our tone and footing. But Amanda and Este had their own vision that we put in the film as soon as we could.”Yamate also added that for the film’s main essence, she “tried to hit the heart and the tone of what it means to love your sister and possibly lose her. Este has sisters. I have a sister.”

Plot of ‘Voicemails for Isabelle’

The premise of the film is based on Jill, a young pastry chef who has been having a hard time dealing with her sister’s death. In a way to cope with her loss, she continues to send voicemails to her sister’s number, not knowing that it has been reassigned to someone else. In comes real estate agent Wes, who resides in Austin, Texas, and becomes the one to receive her voicemails. This unlikely connection opens up a bond of a lifetime between the two.
