Actress Shwetha Menon has finally broken her silence regarding her quitting AMMA, stating she left the organization out of respect for herself and her principles. Menon made a bold statement on social media to explain her exit from the organization. This comes at a moment when AMMA is facing various discussions and problems.
Shwetha Menon explains why she refused to compromise her stand
In her statement, Shwetha made it clear that she was unwilling to compromise on her beliefs. “The reason why I resigned is that I refused to be a puppet to anyone,” she wrote. The actress pointed out that she had received the support of a majority of AMMA members during the election and carried out her responsibilities to the best of her ability. However, she alleged that certain groups within the organisation prevented efforts to investigate alleged irregularities from previous committees. According to her, attempts to bring accountability and transparency were repeatedly blocked, making it difficult for the leadership to function effectively.
Actress calls for an audit and alleges a smear campaign
Shwetha also demanded a detailed forensic audit of AMMA’s accounts covering the last two terms. She claimed that questions surrounding financial and administrative matters needed proper answers. At the same time, the actress alleged that she had been subjected to a sustained campaign aimed at damaging her reputation. “Character assassination started even before the election,” she suggested, indicating that criticism against her was not recent. Even with all the challenges faced, Shwetha stood firm, saying that her decision was based on her conscience and principles.
Shwetha Menon rules out politics, gets backing
In response to speculations about her resignation, Shwetha categorically denied any political connection. “I never attended even one function organised by the BJP-led Central Government or the previous LDF-led State Governments,” she stated, stressing that her stand was completely independent.Her resignation also received support from fellow actor Sukumaran Mallika, who announced her own exit from AMMA and publicly backed Shwetha. Through her latest statement, Shwetha Menon clearly conveyed that her leaving was not an act of weakness but something essential according to her values and principles.
